Upon registration, John Coutsouvelis was employed as a clinical pharmacist at Box Hill Hospital working on the various medical wards. In 1998 he was appointed as the senior oncology pharmacist at Box Hill Hospital and was responsible for cytotoxic preparation and providing clinical pharmacy services to the haematology and oncology unit. On completing the Master of Clinical Pharmacy (Monash University) in 2008, John took on the position of senior clinical pharmacist in oncology and haematology at the Alfred Hospital in Melbourne. His responsibilities include overseeing the provision of clinical pharmacy services to the medical oncology, radiotherapy, clinical haematology and bone marrow transplant units. As the Alfred is a leader in teaching and research, John is also involved in ongoing projects focussing on service improvement and facilitating the optimal use of medications. In In 2009, John was appointed as a senior clinical lecturer (adjunct) for Monash University, contributing to the various post graduate programs offered form within the Faculty of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences. John’s focus for the future is to promote collaborative research to optimise patient outcomes in the field of cancer therapy.
