Worked within cancer care for 25 years with 19 years at a management and/or nurse educator level. Currently Nurse Educator for Central Integrated Regional Cancer Service: Queensland Health whose catchment spans 561,824 Sq Km.
Areas of interest include policy/procedure development, competency based assessment development and implementation and safe handling of hazardous medications and related waste. Provides a multiplicity of educational activities via face-to-face or video conference to support health professionals working in cancer in addition to staff who work outside of a specialist cancer care setting; however deal with people affected by cancer in the context of their workplace.
Worked in both the public and private sector and has been employed by a multiplicity of health care organisations in Queensland as a private cancer nurse consultant since 1994. In these roles, has developed, delivered and evaluated cancer education programs, assisted in the development of policies and procedures and conducted cytotoxic risk assessments and cytotoxic audits to comply with legislative requirements and best practice standards.
Has been an active participant in the development and/or review of a multiplicity of documents/resources at a state and national level related to cancer care.
