Gillian Mitchell

Dr. Gillian Mitchell is a Clinical Oncologist and Director of the Familial Cancer Centre at the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre.
She undertook her oncology training and PhD at the Royal Marsden Hospital in London moving to Australia in 2002.
Dr. Mitchell’s clinical practice is focussed on the use of genetic information to target clinical cancer risk management and cancer therapy as well as having a general breast cancer clinical practice.
In research, Dr. Mitchell has a particular interest in the genetics of familial breast cancer, the consequences of genetic risk on future, clinical management. This interest covers the identification of and sub- sequent clinical cancer risk and cancer management of people with inherited BRCA gene mutations.
