Jon Adams

Jon Adams is Distinguished Professor of Public Health and Deputy Head of School (Research) at the School of Public Health, UTS. Jon was recently awarded a prestigious Fulbright Senior Scholarship (Fulbright Commission, 2019-2020) and he holds a number of national and international leadership positions/appointments with leading associations such as the PHAA and APHA and holds an Honorary Professorship in Public Health at the Imperial College London.
Jon's extensive research program spanning over 30 years includes significant focus upon a vast range of health and health care topics, including: formal care, community-based care and self-care for those with a range of chronic illnesses (especially cardiovascular disease, stroke, affective disorders and dementia); practices, behaviours and initiatives to promote, facilitate and improve quality of life, wellbeing and prevention; healthy ageing; women's health; rural and remote health issues; cancer and palliative care; healthy cities and urban design; indigenous health; and the health of priority and culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) populations, amongst others.
Jon's research program has attracted over $26M in competitive external funding to date including 23 Category 1 Grants (with 19 NHMRC and ARC grants). Jon has authored over 600 peer-reviewed academic publications and is Chief Editor of 11 international research books and author of over 70 book chapters.
