Dr Danette Langbecker is an NHMRC Early Career Research Fellow at the Supportive and Palliative Care Research Group at the Institution of Health and Biomedical Innovation at the Queensland University of Technology. With a background in public health, Dr Langbecker was awarded a Doctorate of Philosophy in 2011 for her work which developed and tested a patient-focused resource to encourage communication between health professionals and patients and families affected by brain tumours. Her research interests include psycho-oncology and supportive care, particularly related to neuro-oncology, how consumers understand health messages, and how they can be optimally developed to meet their needs. Danette is currently investigating novel ways to enhance the self-efficacy and skills of carers to support patients using web-based or smart phone technology.
