Prior to commencing a PhD in 2010, I worked as a research assistant on the kConFab Psychosocial Study, a longitudinal study investigating the role of psychosocial factors (stress, anxiety, depression, social support) in the development of breast cancer among high-risk women. My PhD research is related to the Psychosocial Study and looks at distress and adaptation in unaffected women with an increased risk for breast/ovarian cancer, with emphasis on the experiences of women who do not undergo genetic testing.
